The Dying Butterfly Q & A

What is your book about?

The Dying Butterfly is a post-apocalyptic book. Though it is about an illness the message remains true, and that is when there seems to be no light we hold on to hope. It is about never giving up when it appears there is nothing left to fight for. It is about not taking anything for granted, from the simplicity of tasks, to the little noises, all the way up to the people we cherish; and that sometimes the strangers we meet along the way, even if we don't see it, are the ones that give us that strength.

What inspired you to write the book?

I was writing my first book - A Creation of Tomorrow - and I wanted my husband to read it. He is very supportive of what I do but reading is not something that he loves. I knew, however, when he did read, he enjoyed post-apocalyptic books. I thought the only way to get him to read my book was to write one he would read, and The Dying Butterfly was born. I also wanted to keep it a book I would enjoy so I added the element of love and hope. Hubby read it, loved it, and even listened to the audiobook. Mission accomplished.

What is your target audience for the book?

I honestly don’t know. I never thought of that when I wrote it. I just wanted a book hubby would read. I suppose anyone that enjoys a post-apocalyptic story, but wants something a little different from all the rest. So far my audience seems to be mainly adults ranging from 25 to 60 years old. It also a

ppears mostly women are picking it up. That said, I have had a few men that have reached out and reviewed it very positively.

What are your future goals/plans for the book?

Just like a musician wants a gold or platinum record, or an artist wants their art displayed in a prestigious gallery, I want a number one seller. That would be a check off the ole my bucket list. For now, I will settle with mastering my craft, gaining readers (I hope). I do have a plan for a sequel.

What do you hope readers could get from your book?

I hope readers get what they set out to get when they picked it up – an escape from the here and now - a chance to live in another world and mingle with interesting people. I hope that I did my job as an Author and made them feel something. I hope that I made them giggle a few times while they listened or read it. I hope that my book entertained them.

Something more about yourself.

I am a Canadian full-time employee living in Ontario with my husband and two dogs. I have two not-so-young sprouts and four grandsprouts.

I love painting. I am not an artist, but I don’t think I am bad at it. I have lots to learn *sigh*. My grandmother could paint beautiful sceneries. Me, not so much.

My biggest passion is writing. My dream is to one day write full-time. I imagine myself in a little country home with a loft. The loft would be my writing space. It would have a nice size window overlooking a lake where I could stare out and let my mind go. Wh

en I am in the zone I would type those thoughts into my laptop writing book after book. What can I say? I write stories. That means I dream, and boy, do I dream.
